376 Western PA Pony League General Info
Includes teams from the following school districts:• Beaver Area
• Blackhawk
• Central Valley
• Hopewell
• Riverside
• Southside Beaver
Official playing rules (except as modified by the league) shall be the official rules of
Major League Baseball• No guarantee of playing time or spot in the batting order
• Teams are limited to 18 players with a batting order of 10 hitters
• Only players who are NOT 15 before May 1st are eligible to play in Pony League
Drafting Teams:
• The purpose for the draft is to disperse talent evenly, maintain league balance, and
allow all teams to remain competitive.
• A complete redraft of players will occur each year
• Random draft orders will be established by the league with draft selection
proceeding in a “snake” format
Games• Season begins May 1st regular season shall consist of 14 games (weather
permitting)
• Regulation games are to be 7 innings
• 15 run mercy rule after 4 complete innings
• 10 run mercy rule after 5 complete innings
• All weekday games will begin at 6:00PM
• Regularly scheduled games will not occur on Saturdays or Sundays (although
rainouts and make up games can be rescheduled during weekends)
Equipment• All batters MUST wear a double ear flap helmet
• Metal cleats are permitted but not required
• Any player warming up a pitcher MUST wear a catchers mask
• BBCOR approved drop 3 weight ratio
• USA Baseball stamped
• ALL BATS must be 2 5/8” in diameter- no exceptions
Pitching• Pitchers are limited to 10 innings per week (a week is considered Sunday to
Saturday)
• Pitchers may not pitch more than 5 innings per day
• One pitch = 1 inning
• Mandatory rest for pitchers
• 1-2 innings = 0 days
• 3 innings = 1 day
• 4-5 innings = 2 days
• Once a pitcher is removed from the mound they cannot return to pitch again in that
game.
Playoffs• All teams will make the playoffs, season records will set seeding
• Playoffs begin mid-June and should be complete by July 4 (weather permitting)
• Any games not played will count as a loss for BOTH teams
• Any teams forfeiting 3 or more regular season games will be ineligible for the
playoffs
• Innings pitched will follow regular season limits
• Playoffs are single elimination
• Championship series to be played as best of three
